Your message.

How it works

Three taps. No accounts.

ShareLock doesn't replace your messengers — it rides on top of them. Encrypt on your phone, paste anywhere, only your contact can open it.

1

Write a message or attach media.

Open ShareLock, pick a contact, type or record. Photos, audio, video, files — all stay on your phone until you seal them.

2

Pick a messaging platform and send.

One tap copies the encrypted text — or a PDF if you attached a file. Paste it into WhatsApp, Telegram, X, Gmail, Snapchat — anywhere you'd normally chat.

3

Recipient pastes and instantly reads.

They paste the ciphertext into their ShareLock and the message unfolds — text, image, or file. Anyone else who finds it sees nothing useful.

No one can read it

Including us. Encrypted with a key only your contact holds — on their device.

FAQ

Questions you might have

How secure is ShareLock?
ShareLock uses military-grade encryption. Your messages are encrypted on your device using public-key cryptography before they ever leave your phone. We never see your messages, your keys, or your identity. Even if someone intercepts the encrypted text, it's useless without your contact's private key — which never leaves their device.
Can you read my messages?
No. We can't read your messages because we never receive them. ShareLock doesn't have servers that store or relay messages. You copy the encrypted text and send it yourself through whatever channel you choose. We have no access to your content, your contacts, or your keys.
Why isn't ShareLock open source?
Right now, our priority is shipping fast and keeping the app secure. Managing an open-source project properly takes significant time and effort — contribution guidelines, code reviews, release management — and we'd rather put that energy into making ShareLock better for you. We may consider open-sourcing the project in the future.
Why isn't ShareLock on the App Store or Google Play?
We're working on it. App store approval takes time, especially for privacy-focused tools that don't collect user data — which is exactly what the stores expect you to provide. In the meantime, you can download the APK directly and install it on any Android device. An iOS version is planned.
Do I need an account or phone number?
No. ShareLock doesn't ask for your name, email, phone number, or any personal information. You're anonymous from the moment you install it. The only people who know who you are on ShareLock are the contacts you choose to add.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Your encrypted keys are stored only on your device. If your phone is lost, no one can access the app without your PIN. If you've enabled the self-destruct PIN, entering it wipes all data silently. You can set up ShareLock fresh on a new device — your contacts will need to re-add your new key.
What can I encrypt?
Text messages, photos, audio recordings, videos, and files. Media attachments are encrypted and delivered inside an innocent-looking PDF that only your contact can open with ShareLock.
About Us

Built by people who believe in private conversation

ShareLock was built by a small, independent group of developers and privacy advocates who share one conviction: the right to communicate privately is not a privilege — it's a fundamental freedom.

We live in a world where every message, every call, every click is monitored, stored, and analyzed. Governments surveil citizens. Corporations mine conversations for profit. Platforms decide what you can say and to whom. The "nothing to hide" argument has been used to normalize mass surveillance — but privacy isn't about hiding. It's about autonomy.

We built ShareLock because we believe ordinary people deserve the same tools that protect whistleblowers, journalists, and activists. Not because everyone has secrets — but because everyone has the right to choose who hears them.

ShareLock has no servers, no accounts, no tracking. We don't know who you are. We don't know what you send. We don't want to. That's the point.

Your words.
For their eyes.
Nobody else's.

Free forever. No sign-up. 60-second install.
